Having a star-studding concert in your living room is one of the perks of being President, outweighing the not-so-good parts like a complete lack of privacy. “I guess things even out a little bit,” Obama joked.

With a little nudging from performers like B.B. King, Mick Jagger, and Buddy Guy (how could he even say no?) President Obama sang a few lines from Robert Johnson’s “Sweet Home Chicago” last night during a White House blues concert in honor of Black History Month. " 'Come on, baby don't you want to go?' the president sang out twice, handing off the mic to B.B. King momentarily, and then taking it back to tack on 'sweet home Chicago' at the end." Please allow additional time if international delivery is subject to customs processing. It might not be quite as surprising as when he sang a few lines from Let's Stay Together, but President Obama last night belted out a bit of the blues.
This month, Team Obama released an official playlist on music streaming service Spotify. Last month, the president gave us a taste of his musical abilities when he serenaded those at a fundraiser in New York City with a few bars from Al Green’s ballad “Let’s Stay Together”. True, he missed the high notes, but who doesn’t. Most important, his choice of songs is excellent. The tune is easy and clean, much preferable to jumpy, melodramatic melody of the Star Spangled Banner, which started life as a drinking tune for the Anacreontic Society. Other "In Performance" events have honored Motown, country, and a concert celebrating the Hispanic musical heritage. The music migrated north -- from Mississippi Delta to Memphis to my hometown in Chicago.

PS- Michael Moore was on Rachel last night talking about Michigan and George Romney - who seems like a much more appealing, reasonable, courageous and compassionate person than his empty suited son. It was Palin who was really the rock star and couldn't speak well.
No one goes through life without both joy and pain, triumph and sorrow. The blues gets all of that, sometimes with just one lyric or one note. Our apologies — the video we put up earlier has been "removed by the user" and replaced by a version that doesn't show the president singing. But, there are many other clips showing up on YouTube that still have him included — including this official version from the White House. With that, the ensemble wrapped up the evening with "Sweet Home Chicago." And then Jagger handed off the mic to Obama for his presidential coda. Compare that to Mitt Romney's forced uncomfortable singing of america the beautiful.
When blues legend Buddy Guy asks you to sing and Mick Jagger hands you a microphone, you sing. Even if you’re the President of the United States. As it turns out, the president has a nice set of pipes, and while most people with his musical talents would be advised, “Don’t quit your day job,” perhaps Obama really should really consider doing just that.
