I am working with my job as a high school English teacher on food, clothing, necessary items for those families and students who lost a lot, sometimes everything. I would be so appreciative if you guys could maybe create a Jersey Shore poster or a New Jersey poster or something. We could possibly use the posters for fundraising efforts for local charities/shelters.? I see with your work many famous places, landmarks, businesses, wordplay, nicknames, and so forth. I could help you guys in getting those logos and stuff if you needed!

Your video makes me want to get back to the board. Your philosophy is golden! I went to gatech as an architecture dude, almost left as a mechanical engineer!!!! Can’t complain it worked out now at my age. But your video is awesome. Simple shapes simple colors and an idea go forever.

Each year has gotten easier, and as I’ve loosened up, things have become more and more fun. It’s funny how that works. I hope that is reflected in the stuff I get to make.
You also do 40+ talks every year – what is it about speaking that you enjoy so much?

When did you realise you wanted to be a designer? After studying art at school and thinking I wanted to be a... So, I guess as a piece of advice, challenge yourself to learn how to look. Challenge yourself to learn how to collect, and then when you look and collect, how to learn from it.
Should I Catalog My Art?
Can you help us do this ad? Or can youhelp us do a graphic? Or can you help us make some t-shirts? Or do a snowboard graphic …” or whatever. I had ablog for just about 20 years with daily updates. Asthey started to grow and grow and grow, people would see the output I wasputting on there and call me and say, “Hey, why don’t you do this for us?
Would you say you're creatively satisfied?
It is a good place to be based. Clean, quiet, progressive. But of course, it’s changing, or, has changed already. Rent is going through the roof and assholes are driving too fast. Go back to California, you pukes.

I ran across this today and thought of you right away, I am sure you have already seen it but here is a great start to a great weekend. Hey there Mr. Draplin.I would love to talk to you about a really fun project. I graduated from MCAD as of recently and I am now in the full blown corperate bullshit field - as well as the personal freelance on the side . Life, is alright and my bills are paid. Anyways, I was wondering, how you got your start in the industry.
I love when you see—even if it’s not all that successful—that someone tried to make it great. You want people to know that you’re versatile. Because I’ll have kids that get nasty and say, ‘Ah, that Draplin, he’s a one-trick pony with his thick lines and shit.’ Well, that’s because that’s all you’re seein’.
II can’t see insurance people or pharmaceutical reps enjoying being together like designers do. I just like the positive vibe, without all the cutthroat competition shit. Read Part 1 of the conversation here. A.D Make design a hobby, and the rest will fall into place. I’ve always loved this stuff, which never really makes it feel like a “job” that people always complain about. I’ve been told by people much smarter than me that I need to hire a couple scrubs to help out.
I’ll play along with songs, learn a little part, then forget that fast. I have a monster record collection, and at any time have new records on the player, circulating through my life. I’ve always got some music playing while I work. I can’t imagine an environment sitting there listening to water coolers gurgle and all that.
I just said that I liked the way letters worked against each other. I didn’t feel comfortable writing other people’s names. It was just kind of a way to see spacing, pace and thickness.
